Tom’s passion for photography began as a 10 year-old taking photographs of friends at summer camp on a Kodak Instamatic.  His first foray into professional photography occurred in his 20’s, photographing white water rafting trips on the Snake River in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  After careers as a school teacher and then clinical social worker, Tom decided to pursue his love of photography.  In 2002, through hard work, dedication, and with the help of his wife Jacqueline, Underwood Photography opened it's doors. Now, with Jacqueline designing custom, one-of-kind wedding, event and baby albums, Underwood Photography is firmly established as a studio that people choose when they want the finest service and quality portraiture on the North Shore.

To stay current in the fast-changing world of photography, Tom and Jacqueline have trained at the New England School of Professional Photography studying with some of the biggest names in portrait and wedding photography including: Monte Zucker, Eddie Tapp, Michele Celantano, and Tim and Beverly Walden. In addition, they maintain memberships with the Professional Photographer’s Association of New England.  Tom is also a member of the Essex Chapter of the Business Networkers International.

Tom has a natural ability to put people at ease in front of the camera, getting the best image possible.  His love of children is evident in the loving images that he creates. In addition, Tom views wedding photography as an opportunity to tell a story.  He allows your day to unfold as naturally as possible, working unobtrusively to capture the magical moments as they happen. After the photographs have been taken, Jacqueline custom designs each album, creating a truly magical memory.
